I'm sure someones asked this before, but I couldn't find it by doing a search (but then again, I couldn't get that search function to find a monkey at the zoo). Anyway, I've downloaded a bunch of Refills for Reason off the web, but once I try to use them, I can't figure out which virtual instrument it's meant to work with. Are they Rex files? Thor files?
Problem is, I can't just click on the refill and take a peek inside to see what's there. So aside from trial and error (which has gotten me no where), how do you figure out what is inside the refill so you can use it?
I realize this is a real noob question to ask, but then again, I am a noob to the whole thing. So I guess that makes sense.
ANY help is appreciated. Thanks!
by the way, here is a download for one of the refills I'm trying to use:

Thanks in advance! |

| If you're using Reason 3 or above, you can use the option 'Create Instrument', then browse the refill and see which instruments are created from which patch. |

| im sure you use the anti virus re-fill in the NN-19 as a standard wav but instead of opening it through the main folder open it through the other folder at the top of the NN-19. |

| He's right, I've just checked. There's no instrument patches, it's just samples. |

if they're for Maelstrom it'll be pretty evident as the image of the refill file will identify what patch links to what virtual rackmount.
As far as my memory will allow, DR rex and Dr rex2 patches tend to look like blue "chips"
Maelstrom are kinda orange on the outside with a dark purple looking "chip" pattern inside.
Can't remember the rest it's been a while but i'm 100% sure they've all got their individual look when you load them
As earlier mentioned the NN-XT and NN-19 are THE most versatile as far as loading individual patches from a refill to the point you can tweak it as much as your heart desires (in the NN-XT).
if you need some pictures n ting, i don't mind firing up reason and showing you with some Analog monster and inst-ru-mental patches |

Some time ago i stumbled upon a page where all the extensions of reasons refills/files were explained, back then that "list" what up-to-date.
If i can find it again i will PM you the link (if you still need it then).
I'm at work right now, maybe i can write down something fast like that list. |

Thanks to everyone. That helps a ton and yes Hannez, if you come across that page I'd love to see it. The less dumb questions I need to ask, the better for everyone. ;)
Thanks again! |
