I, for one, am very glad EMI took this bold step. Eventually more labels will follow.

Also I think more rock bands would be willing to to put out pellas etc. for mashing , it is only a matter of time.the old music industry is dying and everyone knows it

that's just great news!

for a major to be going on that way, i can only agree with the dude and hope others will follow. maybe someday we'll be ale to legally download 'pellas, 'mentals and everything else that's just sitting gathering dust on the so-cal vault...

hi im new to this site but i believe music is continously evolving due to the unending human quest for something new and different thus fusion of different types of music are born and yes mashups its easier to combine existing songs to create a fuzz rather than create a new one and incorporate all elements in a new mix and get these stars to perform collabs in music which sometimes is Impossible, But, anyhow i still get a kick out of listening to good combinations of songs which inspire others to be creative in there own right

Remixing unofficially can be very tricky indeed, your right, But as you said IF the remix, or mash-up is done properly then there can be alot of potential for not only the remix, but for the artists to be seen in new forms and in new genres, and for the remixer to be spotlighted for his creative workings of the tracks at hand. The biggest problem right now is not that there isnt a lack of material to mess with and re-do. alot of it comes down to lack of imagination from producers... that is always a major problem. People tend to forget ( not everyone ) but a good amount of people who want to remix, forget that to create a GOOD remix, you must get into the mind of what is desirable. Many tend to forget that part, and just remix without thought, and that has brought the remix (bootleg or legal) into a lot of dis-credit in recent years. I hope that by saying this, people may stand up and say something about it. If there is anything that annoys me at all. its that. But over all for those who really take the time to rework tracks into a
magnificent remix. GREAT JOB ALL!!!

GHP is great.. i'm not a huge fan of the songs on the disc compared to some of the other stuff that's been released.

mashes are fun. but i don't think they're any savior. the evil force of pop-hip-hop is simply too strong. we'll all love fergie eventually.

Making a MashUp illegal is great, because a lot of people can now use there greatest inspiration to make 2 old song new. Smilie_PDT
